New culture media for the enumeration of yeasts and moulds.
.jpg) Biolife informs that are now available two new powdered culture media for the enumeration of yeasts and moulds in foods and animal feeding stuffs according to the following ISO Standard: · ISO 21527-1:2008 Microbiology of food and animal feeding stuffs -- Horizontal method for the enumeration of yeasts and moulds -- Part 1: Colony count technique in products with water activity greater than 0,95.
· ISO 21527-2:2008 Microbiology of food and animal feeding stuffs -- Horizontal method for the enumeration of yeasts and moulds -- Part 2: Colony count technique in products with water activity less than or equal to 0,95.
The reference numbers and products descriptions are the following:
IDRBC Agar Base is useful for the enumeration of yeasts and moulds in products with water activity greater than 0,95 as eggs, meat, dairy products -except milk powder-, fruits, vegetables, fresh pastes, etc, by means of the colony count technique.
DG18 Agar Base is useful for the enumeration of yeasts and moulds in products with water activity less than or equal to a 0.95 as dry fruits, cakes, jams, dried meat, salted fish, grains, cereals and cereals products, flours, nuts, spices and condiments etc, by means of the colony count technique.
The two media should be used with the addition of chloramphenicol:
4240003 CHLORAMPHENICOL ANTIMICROBIC SUPPLEMENT – 10 X 500 ml
DG18 AGAR BASE should be used with the addition of glycerol:
421015 GLYCEROL – 100 ml
